I am an Associate Professor in Human Geography at the University of Oxford.
I teach and research on socially just and climate-compatible transformations, logistical mobilities, and urban geographies of sustainability.
A brief introduction…
I work across the Department for Continuing Education and the School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford, where I am an Official Fellow at Kellogg College. I am also an International Research Affiliate of the Centre for Sustainability at the University of Otago (Aotearoa NZ), and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
I am a geographer, and my research mostly (but not solely) works across transport and mobilities. I work to understand pressing social and ecological challenges and do so in collaboration with colleagues around the world and across different disciplines. My research is broadly concerned with transformations towards sustainability, logistical mobilities, aeromobilities and academic travel. I currently lead a UKRI ESRC funded project called ‘Trucking Lives’.
I have published over 85 journal articles, 20 book chapters, edited two books and a number of reports. You can find further details and access to my research publications on my Google Scholar page.
My research has been funded by the UKRI’s Economic & Social Research Council, Global Challenges Research Fund, and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the Oxford John Fell Fund, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the Norwegian Research Council, Aotearoa NZ’s Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment, the NZ Federation of Graduate Women, amongst others.
I sit on the editorial boards of the Journal of Transport Geography, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Applied Mobilities, Tourism Geographies and Global Networks, and until 31 December 2024 I was the Editor in Chief of the AAG Review of Books.
